Jorge Estrela's experience, perception and reflection on the territory of Leiria can be found in the initial project of the Almoinha Grande Garden. Here the knowledge acquired during his walks through the mountains around the city, in the reading of old gardening treatises or in the works of Rodrigues Lobo are portrayed. The landscape and flora described by this author inspired the design of this garden: the rocks of the mountain range, its dry stone walls, the plants and running water were brought to this project, organized in a geometric design reminiscent of 17th century gardens. Here we scan see the thoughts of an educated man who continuously cultivated himself so that future generations could reap the fruits of his labour.
