Roots

His life spanned 70 years, between May 7, 1944 and January 1, 2015. His childhood was carefree, in a traditional and cultured family environment, with strong roots in Leiria, where he would return on vacation to the family home the Barão do Salgueiro palace, where the memory of Eça de Queiroz hovered and where King D. Luís had been received during a visit to the city.

The city, its heritage, and in particular the Castle were a constant in his work, present from the labels he designed for wine bottles to the exhibitions he dedicated to them, as director of the João Soares Museum House. Many of his works are, therefore, a personal reflection, in a dilemma not to become a “Character [who] Loses the Land by a Thread”.
